El final de Lost - The end of Lost (lliure d'spoilers - spoiler free)

It's been a long time without talking about Lost in this blog, but now it's the time. Lost, the most shocking and surprising TV drama I've ever seen on tv, arrives to its end. An ending that for sure will not satisfy all the audiences. How is it possible to close this epic story, with a minimum of comon sense, in a final chapters of 2 hours? We'll know it tonight. I still trust the writers, and as they showed all along this 6 years, they are great in surprising us with unexpected plot turns and showing past details from past seasons that we almost forgot.

To all that fans that are still in the countdown to start watching this final trip with the last survivors of Oceanic 815, cheers!

A very original promo, quite sad too:

And here is one of the most nice video montage i've seen (it belong to the beginning of season 6):

10 característiques interessants dels telèfons mòbils coreans - 10 interesting features about korean cellphones

Cellphone music game

1 - Penjolls.

1 - Pendants. Most of coreans have some pendant on their cellphone, like a keyring or some accessorie. It can be a little (or big) teddybear, or a T-Money (for paying on public transport and in some convenience stores) accessorie, or a usb-drive, o a litle sponge to clean the cellphone screen. Some of them also have the charger adapter, or the styles for the touchscreen, o the antenna for watching TV.

2 - There is normal cellphone network almost everywhere. And 3G  network also almost everywhere. But many of korean cellphones don't have wifi. Companies and carriers preffer to keep it like this so they can get more benefit than ofering free wifi. Anyway, prices for data connection are really cheap compared to Spain.

3 - Most of cellphones have some english-korean korea-english dictionary. Some of them even have little travel guides with useful expression and sentences in both languages.

4 - Subway map. Is great that in a huge city like Seoul, where the subway network can be confusing (not really, everything is quite well indicated), cellphones have not only a subway map, but also a ruite guide to calculate our trips, transfers, travel time...

Seoul Metro

5 - Sounds and light for anything. Korean cellphones have many sounds for any kind of action. Not only the ringtone, message recieving i key pressing. Opening and closing the clamshell and the slide cellphones have also their sound that we can choose among many. Of course, we can customize all of them one by one or make them silent. Some devices, specially those ones tergeted to young people are full of lights, changing colours and shapes all the time. It's one of the strongest points when they are advertised on tv.

6 - People change cellphone and number at the same time. When it's time to change the cellphone, sometimes it's cheaper to get a new number. that's why there's some kind of big shifting numbers. When we make a new number, we can choose last four digits. The problem is that we still can keep recieving message from somebody trying to contact the last owner of this number.

Models in mobile phone shop

7 - SPAM o correu brossa. No tinc comprovat si és perquè l'anterior usuari del meu número havia donat el número a tort i a dret, però és bastant normal rebre missatges i trucades oferint productes, descomptes o anunciant esdeveniments.

7 - SPAM. I'm not sure if it's because the last owner of the number gave it to many people and companies, but it's quite normal to recieve calls and message offering products, discounts or advertising events.

8 - Diferents sistemes d'escriptura.

8 - Different writting system. As it happens in Europe with different manufacturers (usually only with punctuation marks) . The writting systems it's different in every company. Each brand has their own writting system of the korean alphabet. Even koreans, quite used to their cellphone have some difficulties or trouble when they are using somebody else's phone.

9 - Universal charger: Even the connection for the power adapter are different in every cellphone, all the devices come with a small adapter that converts the connection into the universal plug. So, if we carry this little adapter as accessory, as everybody does, we don't need to worry about power charger. All of them can be used, and they have them everywhere.

10 - Marketing: Cellphones market is highly competitive. We can see hundreds of cellhpone shops of all their companies and carriers. And as every company are linked to a chaebol, and that ones also have some music record company, each brand, or model have their own singer, band, song or campaign to promote it. The promotion is that huge, that the songs, specially written for the campaign, become popular and best-sellers.

Damyang Bamboo Festival

----

From May 1st to 5th Damyang city, in Jeollanam-do province, holded the Bamboo Festival. Damyang it's popular thanks to bamboo and strawberries, and many products coming from both.

The date the festival begun, I went with some friends from my university. The long trip from Seoul to Damyang worthed it. On our way, thanks to good weather, we could find many cars and buses on trips. I could appreciate the huge service areas in korean highways. Big malls with basic services, but also with some shops and franchise of combinis, coffeeshops and fast-food, or korean food.

Damyang is not very big, it has around 50.000 population, and the village is surrounded by forests and crossed by a nice river. One of these forests is the Bamboo Forest, one of the most important parts of the festival, and for this reason, one of the most frequented places during that days.

After enjoying the forest and its surroundings, we could appreciate other activities from the festival. Small stands with food and other homie remedies made of bambú and other herbs. Handcrafted objects made right there in front of us, and many other stuff. Another hotspot was the street parade. Hundreds of people followed the parade and the rythm of its music. The last of the cars was a food car. We were so lucky because an old lady gave us some pajeon and makkoli, and we sat down for a while sharing it with some people while waiting for the parade to continue.

The good weather and the festival atmosphere made me keep good memories of this trip. Without a doubt, Damyang is an interestic place to visit, and I wonder what kind of atmosphere can be felt in no festival dates, and have a nightwalk along the bamboo forest.

Me & Navi
Actuació a TV. A casa versionant.

In Korea, eating outside can be the same price or even cheaper than buying and cooking food at home. That's why lots of korean people are used to eat often out of home. We can find a lot of kinds of restaurants. Since very homie restaurants offering only 3 or 4 different dishes, or other more specialized restaurants, offering world cuisine.

I quines cuines!

One of the most surprising things from some restaurants, is that they look like a home kitchen or living room. We can see the kitchen itself, and what kitchens! We can see how the owners prepare the food in front of us. Many of that kitchens...i'm afraid they wouldn't pass a sanity control...

2 - Aigua sense cost.

Free water. Water is always included in restaurants. We can pur as much as we want. Some restaurants give some plastic bottles the we can refill whenever we want, and in some other places we can just stand up and refill our own glass to the (hot and cold) water machine. The glasses are usually inside a kind of showcase, and theyre under ultraviolet light, that it's supposed to keep the glasses sterile.

Anunci de Soju
A tot arreu podem veure rètols d'anuncis de soju protagonitzats per belles models
We can see soju advertisment with beatiful models everywhere

More food for free. In many restaurants we can ask for more food or side dishes, and rice. Sometimes, the owners or waiters will give them us so happily how well we eat. I aslo have meet some place where the waiters offered to repeat the dish before I finished it.

Samgyeobsal, boníssim!
Graella de Samgyeobsal i plats d'acompanyament
Samgyeobsal grill with some sidedishes

4 - Cuinem nosaltres mateixos. A la majoria de restaurants on s'hi serveix carn (ja sigui de porc, pollastre o vedella), les taules tenen un fogó amb una planxa, o una graella on nosaltres mateixos ens encarreguem de coure i tallar la carn al nostre gust.

We cook ourselves. In most of meat restaurants (pork, chicken or beef), the tables have a fire in the midle whith some grill where we can cook and cut the meat as we like.

Bossam
It's better to shift when it's time to cook, or you won't get any food!

It was nice to meat you!
This is where you cook some the meat as you like

As we cook for ourselves, the restaurants are usually divided with separate rooms. There's no need to have waiters walking around because in each table there is an electronic button which calls the kitchen when we need anything.

Korean cooking comes always with some side dishes such as kimchi and other food. Many food is shared on the table. It's quite normal that everybody puts theyr chpsticks or spoon to the same soup dish. And when we order meat, it's mixed with side dishes. Everything is for everyone. But we also can find dishes for only one person, that ones aren't shared. I should say that at the beginning I dind't find it very healthy, but then i realised that the food is so spicy that it kills any bad stuff on it.

Small restaurants, but fast and gentle service

As mahy asian restaurants, it's quite usual to sit down on the floor. Not everywhere is like this, we can find restaurants where we can only sit on chairs, other ones where we can sit on the floor (taking off our shoes at the entrance), and others where it's a bit mixed.

Sopar (de guays)
Sempre hi ha més plats que persones!
There's always more dishes than people!

We always pay when at the exit. Koreans don't like to mix food with money, that's why they never come to the table with the receipt. It's when it's time to leabe that we pay at the cashier. And in Korea there's no need to give tips.

9 - Bon servei.

Good service. Korean restaurants (usually, in many places and services) are well known for their great customer attention. Dishes are served so quickly. I don't remember waiting more than five minutes for any dish.

Television. The most homie Korean restaurants use to have always the TV turned on. At evenings everybody watches the most popular dramas. Even the cookers sit down to watch their favourite drama while they peel some vegetables. If we go out to have dinner, we don't have to worry about missing the chapter of our drama, anywhere we go, they'll have the TV on.
